Founded in New York in 1868, MetLife is a global provider of insurance, retirement, protection and employee benefit programmes.
Its UK business has £3.9bn assets under management and is led by managing director Dominic Grinstead. Following news that MetLife had put its bulk annuities business, MetLife Assurance, up for sale, Grinstead recently reassured advisers of MetLife’s continuing commitment to the UK market.
MetLife offers a range of portfolios and funds, including its Managed Wealth Portfolios, managed by BlackRock. Three bonds are on offer: Income for Life, Guaranteed Investment and a Protected Growth Bond.
The provider’s employee benefits division is a growth area, with a number of senior hires this year and a strengthened sales team. Its Group Life Protection product has been enhanced with the introduction of a bereavement and probate service, and a Master Trust for SMEs has been created to take advantage of auto-enrolment.
