The Pensions Regulator is appointing Mercer’s Fred Berry as lead investment consultant.
Berry was formerly a principal in Mercer’s investments business and will be supporting the regulator’s activities across defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes as head of a team that will be expanded in the coming months.
Mr Berry took up the newly created position at the beginning of September.
Berry says: “I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues in the regulation of UK workplace pensions, and in raising the profile of the regulator in the investment industry.”
TPR interim chief executive Stephen Soper says: “This appointment marks our intention to significantly deepen our expertise in the sphere of investment, both for DB and DC schemes.
“He will be recruiting other investment specialists to support him, who together will complement the existing teams we have.”
