Mike Izzard, healthcare intermediary leader and chief executive of Premier Choice Group, has died of a brain tumour.
Izzard had been fighting complications following the removal of a brain tumour for nearly a year. He died peacefully at home with his family over the weekend.
Izzard founded Premier Choice Group in 1996. He was a key voice in the healthcare intermediary community, involved in developing many innovations that have been made within the industry. He was also a popular president of the Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries between 2008 and 2010.
Before his death Izzard had organised a management buy out with directors Ann Daniels, Helen Franklin and Tom McGuinness. This was completed last week.
PCG finance director Ann Daniels finance director says: “Mike was a brilliant, driven and inspirational man. He created a dynamic company but still made it feel like a family – he will be missed more than we can say. Our focus now is to continue all that he established and to run PCG to the very high standards Mike always adhered to. Our thoughts are with his wife Judy and his daughters at this very sad time.”
