Simplyhealth chief executive Des Benjamin has today announced he is to retire from the organisation after 13 years of leading the company.
Benjamin joined HSA in 2000, which became Simplyhealth in 2009, and led the company throughout a number of mergers and acquisitions, most recently Denplan and the healthcare arm of Groupama Insurances. Simplyhealth now serves nearly four million people and 20,000 businesses.
The board has begun the process of finding the right person.
Benjamin says: “For reasons personal to me I know it is the right decision. I know as one era ends, another will blossom and I also know it will be a good one for Simplyhealth people and for our customers.”
Ken Piggott, chairman at Simplyhealth says; “On behalf of the Board and everyone at Simplyhealth I would like to thank Des for his unfaltering leadership and sense of purpose, which has driven Simplyhealth to become a key part of the healthcare market. Des has helped to grow an organisation that is strong and sure of its ambitions and he’s done this without ever losing his determination to help people.”
